PHOENIX – A yet-to-be-built Scottsdale luxury residence worthy of the Great Gatsby was listed Wednesday with the highest price tag for a spec home in Arizona history.
Jerry Smith, owner of the property in northeast Scottsdale’s ultra-exclusive Silverleaf gated enclave, is asking $32 million for what will be a 17,267-square-foot estate called Ellington Heights.
“In our opinion, it’s one of the best remaining lots in the upper canyon,” Smith said in a press release.
“Add the fact that we have created a ‘best in class’ team across the board, which makes us excited to introduce the community to this fantastic project.”
The seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom home was designed by Drewett Works and Ownby Design and will be built on the 2-acre lot at 20568 N. 112th St. by GS Fries Construction.
“Ellington Heights will indeed infuse Silverleaf with a refreshed modern design aesthetic,” lead architect CP Drewett said in the release.
“Steeped in the Roaring Twenties, this game-changing prairie-style estate takes luxury desert living to the next level.”
The three-story home will be great for Gatsby-style parties, with multiple bars, a game room, easy-to-access appliances hidden throughout the interior and an upper-level 90-foot-long pool.
And for everyday recreation, there’s a heated pool and spa, golf simulator and putting green, and great views through floor-to-ceiling windows.
The plans also include garage space for 20 vehicles, including a 16-car “showroom,” as well as a guest house with separate entry.
Allan MacDonald of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is the listing agent.
“This architectural masterpiece and design elements in this beautiful estate represent the past and the future in epic proportion,” MacDonald said in the release.
The asking price is not only a record for a spec home, but it has the potential to set most expensive residential property in state history. The mark was set last week when a newly built Silverleaf property closed for $28.1 million.
But there’s competition on the market already. An 18,000-square-foot spec home at 7265 N 40th St. in Paradise Valley was listed in April for $30.6 million.
